Data Engineer & BI Platform Owner at atNorth
We are building a modern, enterprise‑grade BI and analytics platform on Microsoft Fabric — and we’re looking for a Data Engineer & BI Platform Owner to lead the next phase of its maturity. You will guide the transition from an external implementation partner to full internal ownership, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, high‑quality, and AI‑ready. This role blends data engineering, BI architecture, platform stewardship, and advanced analytics with a strong focus on data integrity and trust.
The role can be based in Reykjavik, Copenhagen, Stockholm, or Helsinki.
Key responsibilities:
Platform ownership & transition
Lead the handover from the external implementation partner
Become the primary internal expert and own the Microsoft Fabric BI platform
Ensure the platform is robust, secure, scalable, and well‑documented
Define and maintain architectural standards, data contracts, and best practices
Data ingestion & orchestration
Own and develop Fabric Data Factory pipelines and ingestion patterns (full, incremental/CDC, event‑based, append‑only)
Parameterize pipelines for dev/test/prod and historical backfills
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data flows
Data engineering, transformation & analytics
Build and maintain PySpark / Spark SQL notebooks
Implement and evolve a medallion architecture
Apply business rules, transformations, and feature engineering
Data quality, integrity & trust
Own data quality and integrity across the platform
Implement validation, reconciliation, and anomaly‑detection checks
Ensure consistent business definitions across pipelines and models
Investigate issues and perform root‑cause analysis
Serving data to BI, SQL & AI consumers
Design and maintain Semantic Models (measures, relationships, RLS, Direct Lake)
Enable Power BI reporting and self‑service analytics
Support SQL‑first users via Fabric SQL Endpoints
Build AI‑ and ML‑ready datasets with clear semantics and strong metadata
DevOps, governance & security
Manage Git integration and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps)
Support governance, access control, and compliance
Your profile:
We hope you have
Strong experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or BI Engineer
Proven ability to own and operate a data or BI platform
Hands‑on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, or strong experience with Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Spark/Delta Lake
Strong SQL and data modelling skills
Demonstrated focus on data quality, correctness, and analytical integrity
Nice to have
Experience working across data engineering and data science scopes
Experience transitioning work from or collaborating with external vendors
Familiarity with AI‑driven analytics, Copilot scenarios, or ML consumers
Experience with Tabular Editor and advanced semantic modelling
Understanding of governance, lineage, and observability frameworks
